PAGE EIGHTY TWO. Interior, Damien Kessler’s apartment. Cydonian Towers, Amazonis.
First off this week, a big happy birthday to everyone’s favorite Argentine artist- Nicolas R Giacondino! I told him that, in Mars years, he’s really not very old.
Second, Ape showed us their ad for next month’s PREVIEWS (Comic Shop Catalog) and it features our forthcoming FM OGN. It looks fantastic. We are really lucky to be working with a company that believes in our book. Thanks, guys.
I said, last week I’d have a quick webcomic recommendation. This week I’ve been reading ‘My Life At War’. By Luther Patenge with art by Matthew Materniak, MLaW is a gritty sci-fi military tale. It has a real David Drake/John Ringo feel, with a good sense of humor. It also deals with some ethical questions. This week’s page is a good example- addressing the topic of battlefield looting. Check it out if you get a chance (and like sci-fi military hardware).
This week’s music pairing has to be Garbage and their new single, ‘Blood for Poppies’. I am so naffing jazzed for this album. If this track is any indication, the album will sound like classic Garbage. 2012. Garbage, Blur, and The Stone Roses. It’s like a 90s time-portal opened up in my iPhone.
Finally, I just want to say that this page is (honestly) my favorite page to date. I think our heroines look amazing. I think Nic has perfected their “acting.” Nice one, birthday boy!
Until next week,
Dave

So, now Kessler is out of the picture (for an undetermined amount of time), does this mean Vikki is going to have to step up in the rebellion?
Ha, Orbital burn…
Happy Birthday, Nic. Live long and prosper.
Heh, I didn’t notice her shirt. I guess there’s no harm in wearing the merchandise of your fallen enemies?
And yes: Happy Birthday, Nic!
Love Sam’s shirt. I can totally hear Vexx giving her grief about it:
“what’s with the shirt, gremmie?”
“what?”
”The fuqqers only tried to kill us is what..”
”I’m wearing it ironically – duh.”
shizz seems to be the best way to dis cribe this events but what made me laugh was sam’s shirtoh the irony
I thought of it like this, when I was writing it: there are really two possibilities. A) she doesn’t even realize that she still has an Orbital Burn shirt. B) she does know exactly what she’s wearing and thinks of it as trophy/totem collected from a vanquished enemy. Option B certainly fits into Sam’s gang-tribe background, but Option A also has its merits.
I like option B. It suits her.
You’ve yet to really elaborate on any of the girls’ history before the band. What’s this ‘gang-tribe’ thing you speak of?
@Brian- oh, man. I have a LOT of backstory compiled for these characters. I think each main character (Vexx, Vikki, Sam, Kessler, Shade) could have their own 40-page prequel book. Will they? Time will tell.
