PAGE FORTY. Amazonis Prime Hab-Pyramid, the Jovian Quarter.
Welcome to the jungle, we got fun ‘n’ games
We got everything you want, honey we know the names
We are the people that you find, whatever you may need
If you got the money, honey we got your disease
Welcome to Amazonis Prime. We’ve heard a lot about this particular Hab-Pyramid, but now we get a chance to finally check it out first hand. It is definitely an industrial city and home to thousands of miners, factory workers, and techs. Amazonians are a no-nonsense people and their city reflects this. The one exception being, of course, the Jovian Quarter.
Founded as a recreational district by Europan immigrants in the early 2200’s, the Quarter has become one of the Red Planet’s more colourful (and dangerous) locales. Renowned for its restaurants, theatres, and brothels, the Jovian Quarter is a place where the hard-working Amazonian can let off some steam, but has also become something of a tourist attraction for the rest of Mars.
One of the Quarters’ most interesting destinations is Ziggy’s Café. Owned by one Ziggy Jones, the Café is the club of choice for industrial spies, mercenaries, Iosan crime bosses, smugglers, and revolutionaries. Think part Rick’s Café and part Mos Eisley cantina (with a little Red Garter, Indianapolis thrown in for good measure). It was also originally a bank, so it’s basically a fortress.
This week’s musical pairing is, as you might’ve guessed, Guns N’ Roses ‘Welcome to the Jungle.’ Funny thing- I originally was going with ‘Paradise City’, before Nic even suggested WttJ. Same place, different perspectives. I took one look at Nic’s finished page and thought (to quote Liz Lemon), “I want to go to there.”
By the way, I’m not linking the songs this week because I expect you damn better well have some GN’R on your Zunes already.
Okay, I promise we’ll see our girls again next week. Ziggy’s is also an excellent venue for music….
Dave

There’s rain on Mars?
The song fits perfectly by the way, and Nic did a great job on the environment, as usual.
artificial rain no doubt. this is getting really exciting and Nic’s work on this page is stellar! loving the bullet holes detail and ‘MLF’ graffiti. There are so many little things to take in.
Un barrio encantador
Brian- JL is right. The hab-pyramids are so huge that they basically generate their own atmosphere. Amazonis also is almost perpetually foggy, again due to the moisture and sub-standard enviro systems. Amazonis is a damp place and has an almost Victorian London feel.
Ha! Zunes. That’s a good one.
“Ziggy Jones” = David Bowie reference?
dang it Dave why cant any epic ladies like the one on the first panel exist here on earth in our reality oh well well done sir Nic youhave done an excellant job in making me realize im arrated to epic beuties that dont excite or cant have lol any ways well done guys great song choice as well
Jester- you’re receiving my transmissions.
Comichero- I feel ya. Though I’m pretty sure that she might’ve actually existed in 1974 London or 1983 L.A.
Tom- At the end of the Terran iWars, the Zune faction finally came out on top. Led by the enigmatic warlord, Mr. Pibb.
@Dave: I figured as much, I just wanted to be the assclown who noticed it first.
74 london and 83 LA huh well damn looks like I’m too late once again oh the irony of it all most guys have a problem of being too early
